Welcome to the ULTIMATE STAR WARS vs STAR TREK DATABASE. Here, you will find out what these webpages are all about, and why it exists in the first place.

The webpages here reflect my sense of humor, my liberal use of profanity, and unmitigated disdain for those who willingly misinterpret and twist the facts to further their arguments. So be forewarned; if you don't enjoy dark, mean-spirited humor, this isn't the place for you. This website's main purpose is to aid those Star Wars fans in burying Trek fans who are involved in the "VS" arguments.

Why is this website "so mean"? Many of the "VS Trekkies" have proven themselves over the years to be deserving of the scorn I present here. Most are rabid, fanatic, will pull any stunt to deny counter arguments that combat their "beliefs".

Tips for being successful at these debates—

You've got to know your stuff. If you're a Star Wars fan, that means you've got to know Star Trek. You must be familiar with the canon— which is the aired episodes and the movies. Also, you've got to be familiar with the Star Wars canon and some VS Trekkies' crusades to misinterpret it. See the Sources section for more info. Many informative websites out there can be a great help in this regard. Check the Links section for these.

What's the purpose of this website?

This is a collected resource of Star Wars vs. Star Trek arguments for those Star Wars fans who wish to combat Trekkies who claim that Star Trek is superior to Star Wars in technology and combat, and most everything else.

You can't compare the two! It's apples and oranges!

For these arguments to work, one has to begin with a healthy dose of "suspension of disbelief." Trek and Wars fans begin with the galactic constants between both universes; humans, asteroids, and planets are a common state of reference. Then the accepted canon of both franchises are treated as "documentary evidence". Star Trek vs. Star Wars arguments have been waged on Usenet, BBS boards, and internet message boards for years. Before the internet, Trek fans would sit in circles on hotel floors in conventions worldwide convincing themselves that other sci-fi franchises were inferior to Star Trek.

Why do you have to argue over anything? Its all movies and TV shows! It's not real! Get a life!

It's a fun, silly hobby, no different than any other fun, silly hobby.

Isn't this webpage biased toward the Star Wars side?

All arguments end with the Star Wars side having the final say. Because, quite frankly, its my web page. As stated above, this is a resource for Star Wars fans to combat Star Trek fans, and to counter the flow of misinformation perpetrated by Trekkies. However, don't take this to mean that these webpages are unfair to Star Trek. Only the strongest and most often repeated arguments from Trek fans were chosen to be represented here. It helps SW fans see when someone is using inaccurate information against SW either by ignorance or design. By the same token, there are a lot of gems here for Trek fans to use against militant SW fans who use incorrect information in THEIR arguments.

You seem to know a lot about math and science. Where did you get your degree?

Any calculations you may see here were not done by me; they were posted to a newsgroup by either Trek or Wars fans that know how to crunch numbers like these. The same goes for many of the scientific counters seen here.

The Trek guys looks intentionally stupid. Did you write these questions and answers yourself to make the Star Wars side look good?

No. This Database is an amalgamation of actual posts and opinions of Trek/Wars fans on the various newsgroups and message boards where these battles have been crossposted since 1995. I have participated in most of these arguments over the years.

A lot of the WARS answers sound a lot like Michael Wong. Did he write them?

Mike Wong was a prolific poster on the newsgroups before creating Stardestroyer.net. Many of his legendary Usenet arguments are used here.

So, you hate Star Trek and its fans, then?

No, I don't hate Star Trek or its fans. I loved TOS, hated TNG except for a few episodes, (Most having to do with the Klingons or Q), hated DS9 (A small handfull of episodes were ok, especially when Chief O' Brien was showcased), and actually enjoyed most of Voyager. As for the fans, some are annoying, insipid, and are trolling assholes. But not all of them. I hate on an individual basis, whether the objects of my wrath are Star Trek or Star Wars fans.

This is a huge waste of time. Why argue about something that is make-believe? You must be insane to remember all these silly details, like which episode Kirk polished his nails, or how many Star Destroyers the Empire has!

Yes, of course these arguments are stupid and time wasting. But then so is committing to memory baseball scores, football player stats, and Bible passages. It's the nature of the beast that man concerns himself with such unimportant prattle. And besides, it's FUN, asshole.

    What are "VS" Trekkies?

Actually, there are many subsets of VS Trekkies. Identifying the types of "VS Trekkies" that infest online message boards will help you greatly in your arguments. "VS Trekkies" come in all types, and I'm not just talking about the 600 pound malodorous dipshit in the Starfleet uniform who thinks he's Commander Riker. Below are examples of "VS Trekkies" you may encounter.

    "The Trekkie"

This is an average debater who is actually not an asshole, but who is well-informed on Star Trek AND Star Wars, and presents logical arguments. Very rare to find, but they are out there.

    "The Innocent Diplomat"

One who will pepper his argument with all forms of wild speculation about things in Star Trek that cannot be referenced by a canon quote or visual, but will not accept under any circumstances any speculation about things in Star Wars that cannot be referenced by a canon quote or visual.

    "The Semantics Whore"

One who will attempt to undermine canon in a negative fashion for Star Wars, and a positive fashion for Star Trek. This is usually done by deliberate misinterpretation of the evidence, using the most illogical definition of a word that will best further their bullshit.

    "Exit Door User"

These are people who try to sneak their red herrings under your radar, using the most vague examples of ST or SW strengths and/or weaknesses to further the point they are pushing. For example, "Since Star Destroyers can't survive in close proximity to a star..." This uses the "Heir To The Empire" example, where even a Star Destroyer couldn't survive long in close proximity to the star Athega. Or: "Trek ships have destroyed other ships with one photon torpedo..." not specifying if the attacking ship was a UFP ship or the Borg, whether the target was about to explode, etc. This is setting up an exit door. When you call them on their little red herring, the response is, "Hey, I didn't SAY Star Destroyers can't survive next to ALL suns..."

    "Transcript Pussies"

Those that quote endless lines of dialogue or book excerpts, but then don't bother to actually check the facts. Don't fall into this category. Check ALL references; many a Trekkie debate has been halted in its tracks by checking the quotes either immediately before of after the prooffered quote. Check the CONTEXT to see why that shield rating is so high. Was it because Q was doing it, etc.

    "JPDs"

(or, Just Plain Dipshits) - Don't be afraid to bandy about Mike Wong calcs, or Curtis Saxton's conclusions, etc. Ignore pussies that will label you a "Disciple of Wong", a "Prophet of Poe" (That's my own creation--Trekkies usually aren't that clever) simply for using the correct information.
